TI’S THE SEASON. . .

When cooking your big meals for the holidays here’s some little reminders you can use to save yourself the cost of having a plumber come out to your home on the holiday:

1.  String Beans, Potato Skins, Turkey Bones and Pasta should NOT be put down your garbage disposal.

2.  If a smell is coming from your garbage disposal, cut up a lemon, put it in the disposal and turn it on for 3 seconds, turn it off, let it sit for 20 minutes then run water back through it.

3.  While friends and family are visiting for the holidays, remember that feminine products, baby wipes and diapers when flushed down the toilet have a good chance of stopping up your toilet at the most inopportune time.

We hope these simple reminders will help your holidays go a little smoother and ensure that you enjoy your festivities.

As you prepare to go back up north for the summer months or you are taking a vacation, here are some helpful tips to keep in mind:

I. Turn the power off to your Water Heater. This keeps you from paying for electricity when it’s not in use.

II. Cover the toilet bowl with saran wrap. This will keep the evaporation to a minimal.

III. Shut off the main water valve to your house when going on vacation or out of town.  This prevents any lines from springing a leak and creating a flood.

Please note:

If you do not want to shut the water off completely, you can turn off the hot and cold valves that go to the washing machine to prevent the hoses from springing a leak.
